I've been playing this magical water pot for over 10 yrs now, always fascinated by the unique beautiful sound. I always want people to be able to see how the water dance inside the pot while I play since it's so, so meditative, so I decided to video it. Actually I'm just shaking the water pot here, provided certain momentum, the water inside the pot play the music by itself. Since this old pot has erosion all over, whenever the water hit the unsmoothed surface, it gave out different tone.
John Lee solo on eclipse steel drum
(5'56")
This is my first song I made for the eclipse steel drum, a little song doesn't have a name yet, try to make use of the Chinese flavor tuning of the instrument adapt to my frame drum style playing and my personal funny melodic sense.
sansula + overtone singing by John Lee

a song in 7 and 4, using a bamboo as resonator, it sounds good live and only resonate the A, pity doesn't hear on the clip (headphone is better) been performing this song couple times and it seems to be more and more together now

a morning practise on overtone singing with cowbell
water percussion by John Lee
(4'04")
a drum improvisation on a waterpot and coconut bowl (the beginning is soft and subtle with the effect of water, please use headphone)
sansula solo by John Lee
(3'51")
This song has the rhythm first, I assigned different notes to each key according to the rhythmic song in my head.feel like playing a drum, I enjoy very much since it threw away my usual melodic attachment.
Also I used a vase and a book as resonator, tried to create more sounds and tone color, very funny the vase only resonate one key, which is the main key. The vase resonator can hear better on headphone and sorry for the picture quality
music improvisation by John Lee
(4'06")

(3'31")
My first kalimba work, got the kalimba for over a year now. This is a song that suddenly came to my hand, in 7, the vocal is South Indian syllable that I used to sing on my frame drum playing.
